Michelle Trachtenberg, in memoriam

If you do not know who she is, your children definitely do!

Michelle Trachtenberg was born on October 11, 1985 & passed away on February 26, 2025. Reports say that it was likely natural causes, with nothing looking suspicious. ABC News did report that Trachtenberg had recently gone through a liver transplant & may have been suffering from complications.

Trachtenberg started her acting career as a child on Nickelodeon shows. As a child actor, she was also in the movie Harriet the Spy. As Trachtenberg grew up, she was able to move into older roles. She was on the Disney tv movie Ice Princess, as well as tv shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Gossip Girl. Trachtenberg was also able to pick up a recurring role on Six Feet Under & guest spots on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Weeds, & Criminal Minds. She was also able to dip her toe into movies, such as with Killing Kennedy, Euro Trip, & 17 Again. She also popped up in the music video for Fall Out Boy's "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race."

This is somebody that the older Millennials (the 30 & 40 year olds) have grown up with & have likely shared her work with the kids in our lives.

For those of us who like to stay up on entertainment news (good, bad, & in between), the Quincy Public Library does have access to People magazine & Seventeen Magazine. The library also has access to dvds of the titles listed above, all sorts of Nickelodeon shows, & Fall Out Boy cds. (If streaming is more your thing, check out Kanopy & Freegal.)

If you are someone who is going through a transplant, have already had one, or know somebody who is - the Quincy Public Library has a variety of materials on transplants, on surgery, on mental health (to help with your mental well being as you go through this). The library is also able to point out resources in the area that could help with any of this stuff.
