It's that time of year again. It still feels like summer, but society insists that it's time to get back in the classroom. To help ease the transition, here are a few tips and tricks to make this year better than ever!
1. Time Management- There are only 24 hours in a day and some chunk of those are taken up by sleep (hopefully). So how you handle the rest of your time is very important. First step is recognizing that not everyone has the same 24 hours. Yours looks different from someone on a sports team or in theater; and none of us have the same 24 hours as Taylor Swift or Chappell Roan. Second step, recognize that you can't control time (yet), you can only control yourself. A great start to managing yourself is figuring out where your time goes- school, extracurriculars, homework, and hanging with friends. Third step, try to get yourself into a routine so you can make the most of your 24 hours!
2. Get Involved- That might sound like the opposite of time management, but it's all part of the same process. If you get involved at school or in your community sports or theater or an academic club, then that helps give structure to your 24 hours. Getting involved also helps you create connections and helps improve mental health. Extracurriculars also look good on a resume, and not just college applications.
3. Take Notes- It sounds simple enough right? Notes come in handy when studying for tests, simple. They also help keep you awake in class. Taking notes can also make you a classroom hero; for people who missed class or for the study group that you start. And one more time for the people in the back: it keeps you involved! It doesn't matter what type of notes or how many pictures you draw, if it makes sense to you then they're good notes. Have a separate notebook or notebook section for each class, this helps you stay organized and makes the information easier to find when you go looking for it.
4. Try- It literally costs nothing to try. You tried and failed? GREAT! Try again! Pretending not to care about things is fine for a while, but you know what makes life more interesting? Trying something! If nothing else, you will probably get some amazing stories to tell people later on in life. 🤗
