To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books. This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' In this club, we aren't afraid to be open minded or to tackle tough subjects!
The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been banned or challenged. Most banned books address societal issues, have diverse characters, or are written for diverse people. We examine each title both for its literary merit and to objectively discuss the logic behind its bans and challenges.
Book selections are made 6 months in advance. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book? It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!
This month's selection is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to this book automatically for free, audiobook through Libby, and the eBook through Libby and Boundless. For a physical copy, contact Rachelle at rgage@quincylibrary.org or Sally at sblackwell@quincylibrary.org
