The Vivienne (aka James Lee Williams) was born April 12,1992 & passed away in January 5, 2025.
The Vivienne starred as the wicked Witch of the West in the 2024 UK tour of stage version of The Wizard of Oz. He was also The Childcatcher in the 2024 UK tour of the stage version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He also won the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK & participated in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.
Sadly, the Vivienne was the victim of a homophobic attack in June of 2023. The perpetrator both verbally & physically attacked him. The Vivienne in turn utilized the instance as a moment highlighting the fact that things like homophobia still exists.
The Quincy Public Library has books & materials relating to RuPaul’s Drag Race & various things about drag queens & drag culture. (Not to mention access to both the book & movie version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as all sorts of stuff relating to the Wizard of Oz.) Everything is available for holds & check out, for anyone interested in the topics or in learning something new.
