Peter Jason was known as a character actor but described himself as a "surf bum" before becoming "an actor bum."
Jason was born on July 22, 1944 & passed away on February 20, 2025. He was a close friend of Ed Asner & was described by Asner's son as "one of the sweetest people on the planet." John Carpenter described Jason as one of the great character actors, while Billy Zane said: "the supremely talented Peter Jason has left the set." Zane also referred to Jason as "the brightest light, most generous soul and gregarious of men." And that's the thing, in reading tributes to Peter Jason & reading the articles on his passing, Peter Jason is consistently referred to as being so very talented & everyone talks about how he was just an utterly good human being.
If Peter Jason has sparked your interest, the Quincy Public Library does have access to a variety of materials on surfing. (Or maybe this is your sign to go nostalgic & rewatch Surf Ninjas or Surf's Up.) This could also be the opportunity (or reminder) to get materials that will help you better your life (whatever that may look like), as the Quincy Public Library does have materials on meditation, yoga, self-help, etc.
Peter Jason had the opportunity to show up on all sorts of shows. He appeared in episodes of: Gunsmoke, Hart to Hart, the Blue & the Gray, Remington Steele, Murder She Wrote, Arrested Development, CSI, & NCIS. He was also a regular on Deadwood. Jason debuted in the movie Rio Lobo & went on to appear in the movies: Mommie Dearest, The Karate Kid, The Hunt for Red October, Arachnophobia, Congo, Mortal Combat (the 1995 version), Seabiscuit, Kicking & Screaming, Hail Caesar, & Jurassic Park Fallen World. That is just to name a few. QPL does have access to all of the titles above, if you are more interested in seeing Peter Jacon in action. (We also have access to Mortal Combat videogames, as well as the book versions of Mommie Dearest, Congo, & The Hunt for Red October.)
