General Hospital has suffered a loss.
Leslie Charleston was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 22, 1945 & passed away on January 12, 2025.
She got her started out in soap operas by joining the cast of As the World Turns & in 1977, Leslie was eventually able to get a long running part as Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital, which also became a recurring character on Port Charles. Leslie was the longest serving cast member on General Hospital. So, it is safe to say that she was a mainstay in the world of soap operas. (Sadly, the Quincy Public Library does not own copies of any of these shows, nor do we have access through our partners. However in these types of situations, we are always willing to try to get materials for you through inter-library loan.)
Her credits do not stop at soap operas, as she had cameo & guest star appearances on multiple shows over the decades. You may have seen Leslie Charleston's name in the credits on Adam-12, Happy Days, The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, the Rockford Files, Diagnosis Murder, Dharma & Greg, Friends, & the Wild, Wild West. (Fortunately, the Quincy Public Library does have access to all of these shows. If you are looking for a show to get into for a bit or are just looking for a bit of nostalgia, we will happily help you to place whatever holds you want.)
On a side not, Leslie had been falling in recent times & had actually been hospitalized for a fall in the week leading to her passing. Considering there is still snow on the ground in Quincy, please tread lightly while out & about.
