Director, screenwriter, husband of Aubrey Plaza.
Jeff Baena was able to get a degree in Film from New York University's Tish School of the Arts. Afterwards, he moved to Los Angeles & worked his way up in Hollywood. Baena worked as a production assistant on What Lies Beneath & Castaway. He collaborated on the scripts for I Heart Huckabees & Meet the Fockers. (Oddly, he was not involved in any way on Meet the Parents or Little Fockers.) He went on to direct Life After Beth, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014. He also directed the 2022 movie Spin Me Round. (The Quincy Public Library does have access to all of the movies mentioned above, as well as film & tv shows Aubrey Plaza appeared in. We also have books, both fiction & non-fiction, relating to film.)
Sadly, he passed away on January 3rd & it appears to have been suicide. This type of thing is very serious & if you are also going through similar issues, there are entities that could be of help - Transitions of Western Illinois, Clarity Health, Blessing Behavioral Health, & Quincy Medical Group's Behavioral Health. All entities have locations in Quincy, as well as locations elsewhere (if you prefer to go elsewhere in this case). Links for all are below. Additionally, the number for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is 988 but there is also a website, with additional ways to access them & other information. 988 Lifeline - If you need emotional support, reach out to the national mental health hotline: 988.
