Program Description

Event Details

This program is part of the Quincy Community Read and hopes to offer further education on the themes of the book Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, & a Mother’s Will to Survive by Stephanie Land.  This initiative hopes to broaden our understanding of the world, our communities, and ourselves through the power of a shared reading experience.

Maid addresses real issues that affect millions of people every day across the country. How does it apply to our hometown of Quincy? Come in and listen to the perspectives of representatives from the Greater Regional Economic Development Foundation, Quincy Housing Authority, West Central Child Care Connection, Quanada, the Safe & Livable Housing Committee, and the Local United Way. They will share statistics on how the issues faced by Stephanie Land in Maid are issues that Quincyans struggle with on a daily basis, and how this affects Quincy's growth and overall success as a community!

A Q & A will follow the presentation, and will include a method for asking questions anonymously! Please come join the conversation and learn how we can all help our community!

To get a copy of Maid after October 26, contact the Quincy Public Library.
