Program Description

Event Details

Stephanie Land: Domestic violence survivor. Single mother. Low wage worker, scrubbing the toilets of the wealthy, not knowing where her next meal was coming from. Counting every nickel: rent, gas, food, daycare, clothes. Never having enough. All while trying to get a college degree, dreaming of someday being a writer. Making choices, standing strong, and surviving.

Now a college graduate. A writer. Now a social justice advocate, and a New York Times best-selling author of Maid:  Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, and inspiration for the award-winning Netflix miniseries of the same name.

Now a force for change.

The Quincy Public Library, in partnership with Quincy Area Network Against Domestic Abuse (Quanada), is proud to host Stephanie Land here in Quincy. Join us at the Kroc Center, hear her story, her reason for writing Maid, and the experience of going from maid to self-made, to using her success for advocacy.

Meet her in person after the talk and get your copy of Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive signed!

Space is limited and registration is required. Register to ensure your seat!
