The Quincy Public Library is holding a plant swap! Diversify your house plant variety, your garden plants, or your outdoor flowers!
Spring is the time for planting, splitting bulb clusters, splitting rhizomes to make new houseplants, and starting plants from cuttings! Take what you have extra, or what you want to replace, and come trade them in to get a wider variety!
Didn’t get a chance to drop off your plants, cuttings, bulbs, etc. before this day? That’s okay, bring them with you to the swap and make a 1-1 trade!
Want to join in? Here's what to do:
- If you have some extra outdoor bulbs, bring some bulbs into the library packed in a little dirt in a plastic bag & trade them in!
- Take plant cuttings, place them in (disposable) cups of water, bring the cups into the library and trade them in for vouchers!
- Houseplant getting too big? Splitting a houseplant via rhizomes (roots)? Bring the potted baby plant you’ve split off in for a voucher!
- Just want to trade out houseplants to diversify? Bring the plants in, pot and all, and exchange them for vouchers!
- Have extra garden seedlings and baby plants? Bring them in and trade them for vouchers!
Then pick new plants on a 1:1 basis: 1 plant dropped off, 1 taken home!
All healthy plants, cuttings, bulbs, etc. will be accepted, but they must be labelled with the plant name on the cup, bag, container, pot, or on an attached piece of paper.
Let’s get growing!
