Join the Quincy Public Library and Illinois Libraries Present (ILP) in honor of Black History Month! Come into the library and join us in a watch party as we experience the incredible talent that is James McBride.
James McBride is an award-winning author, musician, and screenwriter. His landmark memoir, The Color of Water, published in 1996, has sold millions of copies and spent more than two years on the New York Times bestseller list. Considered an American classic, it is read in schools and universities across the United States. He is a noted musician and composer, as well: McBride has toured as a saxophonist sideman with jazz legend Jimmy Scott and other musicians, and has written music for several other musicians. He has been awarded the National Humanities Medal “for humanizing the complexities of discussing race in America,” the National Book Award for Fiction, and holds several honorary doctorates.
