Program Description

Event Details

Most people know what a monarch butterfly is. Fewer people know that monarchs are important pollinators, and that these gorgeous butterflies are endangered!

Pollinators are important to the survival of almost every species on Earth. Many of us want to support pollinators but live within city limits and do not know how to do so. People may think they lack the space or the knowledge to grow a pollinator plot, and many people do not understand why they should!

Come join us at QPL and learn from Illinois Master Gardener Robin Thomson. Robin will teach us why pollinator plots are important for not just the survival of the beautiful monarch butterflies, but for other species as well. Robin will also teach us how to start a pollinator plot in your yard, even if you do not have a lot of space!

While you're at it, meet some monarchs in person! Robin raises them and will bring some in for you to see and experience close up!
