Converting your Sterile Lawn into a Natural Landscape and Pollinator Garden

As part of our Sustained Success Series* of programs, the Quincy Public Library welcomes the University of Illinois Extension in this workshop on how you can become more ecologically friendly!

The standard grass that covers American lawns, while needing constant maintenance that comes at a high expense, has little to no environmental value, and is not native to Illinois. Native plants are an imperative part of our ecosystem, but making the switch from the typical lawn may seem a daunting task!

Have you wondered how to begin transforming your space into one that is not only beautiful, but environmentally friendly? Or perhaps have you have been interested in creating a pollinator garden in your yard space, but do not know how to begin.

Amy Lefringhouse, educator with the University of Illinois Extension office will be leading an informational and instructional program on the benefits of converting your yard to native plants, and a step-by-step program to learn the process of transforming your yard into a happy, healthy, ecologically friendly space that friends and neighbors will admire!

*This program is part of QPL's Sustained Success Series of programs and educational classes designed to help you reach your personal, financial, health, fun and fitness goals for 2023. For further educational programs in our Sustained Success Series, check out our calendar!
