Program Description

Event Details

Throughout history, America has been the breeding ground and host of countless brilliant inventors. However, despite their brilliance and foresight, most black inventors were never given credit for their inventions. Enslaved people often invented things that slave "owners" took credit for, and-even after emancipation- Jim Crow laws and racial prejudice, in most cases, prevented black inventors from receiving credit for their inventions.

America's history is littered with black inventors who are still little known today and are neglected in and forgotten by our history books.  Quincy Public Library, as part of its Bringing Black History Forward Program Series, has partnered with Bella Ease to host a Black Inventor's Showcase, presented by Students and citizens of the City of Quincy.

Come in between 12 PM and 3 PM, browse the room, and learn from Quincy's own citizens and future leaders about invaluable black inventors who have made a significant contribution and mark on American History and America's advancement.
