Creative writing and tabletop games might not sound like a natural fit, but you'd be surprised. If you have to come up with your own character, how do you do it? Do you start with a name or a weapon? Does any character in D&D have parents?!
Maybe you lead the group and want to learn better techniques for crafting elements of your story, that's creative writing too!
