January is National Baking Month, and rightly so, because it's cold outside! It's a good time of year to learn a new skill and learn how to bake some yummy stuff that will warm you up from the inside out.
Making sourdough starter and bread has become extremely popular. Sourdough starter can last indefinitely as long as it is kept under the right conditions and fed regularly! Want to learn how to make your own from the experts?
Joining us at QPL is a Chef and Baker from Thyme Square Bakery & Cafe! Thyme has not only been making its own bread from scratch since they opened in 2016, but they have been using the same sourdough starter all this time, supplying not only their restaurant but many others in Quincy with fresh, delicious sourdough!
Come join us at the library for some hands-on learning! You will learn how to make starter, how to feed it, care for it, and start making your own delicious homemade bread, and leave with your very own starter you made yourself!
Light refreshments provided, plus one lucky patron will leave with a door prize, in addition to their own sourdough starter!
This program has a waitlist. When programs have a waitlist and people who register don't show, it denies patrons on the waitlist the opportunity to participate. If you register and do not show twice for a waitlisted program, you will be removed from future registration lists for all programs that have a wait list for a minimum of 6 months. If you cannot attend, please cancel your registration, or call us to do it for you, so that people from the waitlist can get in. We appreciate you consideration for other patrons!
