To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books.

This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been banned or challenged.

The club meets on the second Thursday of every month from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. to discuss a book.  Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book?  It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!

This month, the Banned Book Club will be discussing its first read: Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi. Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood has been consistently challenged throughout the nation- even making the American Library Association's (ALA) Top 10 list of most often challenged books- and is currently a subject of contention right here in Quincy.

You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to this book for free For a physical copy, contact Rachelle at rgage@quincylibrary.org. This book is not available in electronic or audio formats.

Is your schedule a little too complicated? Or flu season has you down? Or you simply prefer home and pajama pants?  No worries! We get that! This is a hybrid book club and you will be able to Zoom in for the discussions! Zoom links are posted around 12 p.m. the day of the meeting.
