To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books. This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' In this club, we aren't afraid to be open minded, or to tackle tough subjects!
The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been Banned or Challenged.
The club meets once every month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. to discuss a book. Book selections are made 6 months in advance. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book? It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!
This month, the Banned Book Club will discuss Thirteen Reasons Why, by Jay Asher. Thirteen Reasons Why has been repeatedly and consistently challenged throughout the nation since its publication in 2007, and has even made the American Library Association's (ALA) Top 10 list of most often challenged books several times.
Book selections are made 6 months in advance. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book? It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!
You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to this audiobook or eBook for free through Boundless (formerly Axis 360) or Libby. For a physical copy, contact Rachelle at rgage@quincylibrary.org or Sally at sblackwell@quincylibrary.org
