To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books. This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' In this club, we aren't afraid to be open minded, or to tackle tough subjects!

The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been Banned or Challenged.

This month, the Banned Book Club will discuss Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison.  Invisible Man is one of those rare novels that have changed the shape of American literature. It was also the first time the National Book Award was given to an Afrcian-American! It has not only been repeatedly and consistently challenged throughout the nation since its publication in 1952, it has made the American Library Association's (ALA) list of most challenged books.

Book selections are made 6 months in advance. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book?  It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!

You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to this book for free, either in paper form or via a book on CD! For a copy, contact Rachelle at rgage@quincylibrary.org or Sally at sblackwell@quincylibrary.org
