To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books.

This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been Banned or Challenged.

The club meets on the second Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. to discuss a book. Book selections are made 3-6 months in advance. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book.?  It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!

This month the Banned Book Club will be discussing New York Times Bestseller Maid by Stephanie Land. In partnership with Quanada, the Quincy Public Library chose Maid as its Community Read due to its relevance to real community issues and the struggles that many Americans face just surviving-- including many who live right here in Quincy. Maid addresses issues such as homelessness, poverty, and domestic violence. The Community Read is a collective endeavor where individuals come together to engage in a shared reading experience as a means to foster dialogue, understanding, and connection in the Quincy community.

You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to this Ebook for free via Axis 360 or Libby, and access to an audiobook version on Hoopla. For a physical copy, come into the library after October 26th and pick up a free copy that is yours to keep (while supplies last)!

Is your schedule a little too complicated? Or flu season has you down? Or you simply prefer home and pajama pants?  No worries! We get that! This is a hybrid book club and you will be able to Zoom in for the discussions! Zoom links are posted around 12 p.m. the day of the meeting.

This meeting has been cancelled. Please join us on November 9th at 6:30 pm instead.
