To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books.

This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been Banned or Challenged.

This section of the Banned Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. to discuss a book. Book selections are made 3-6 months in advance. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book.?  It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions! Any interested readers are welcome to join the club and dive into discussions at any time!

This month, the Banned Book Club will discuss I Know why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. I Know why the Caged Bird Sings has not only been been repeatedly and consistently challenged throughout the nation since its publication in 1955, but has even made the American Library Association's (ALA) Top 10 list of most often challenged books multiple times since the ALA started keeping track of the top 10 in 2001.

You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to this book for free through the Quincy Public Library (or your local library, if you do not reside in QPL’s district). For a physical copy, contact Rachelle at rgage@quincylibrary.org or sblackwell@quincylibrary.org . For an electronic version of the book (ebook or audio) please go to Home | Quincy Public Library (quincylibrary.org).

Feeling ill? No babysitter? Just don't want to abandon your pajamas pants?  No worries. This is a hybrid book club where you can participate through Zoom.
