To read? Or not to Read? Is often the question that comes up with banned and challenged books.
This book club answers that question with a big 'Heck Yes!' The Banned Book Club reads exclusively books that have been Banned or Challenged. Each month, the club reads and meets to discuss a book. Didn’t get the chance to read or finish the book.? It happens. No pressure- you can still join the discussions!
This month, the Banned Book Club will be handing out its first read: Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi. Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood has been consistently challenged throughout the nation- even making the American Library Association's (ALA) Top 10 list of most often challenged books- and is currently a subject of contention right here in Quincy.
Didn't get to make the first meeting? It is not too late! Join in anytime!
You are welcome to bring your own book, but library card holders have access to books for free. Persepolis is not available in electronic or audio format, so if you need a copy, contact Rachelle at rgage@quincylibrary.org.
If you attended the first meeting on 10/27 but did not leave any contact information, please contact the library a.s.a.p. so we can get a book ordered for you.
Is your schedule a little too complicated? Or flu season has you down? Or you simply prefer home and pajama pants? No worries! We get that! This is a hybrid book club and you will be able to Zoom in for the discussions! Zoom links are posted around 12 p.m. the day of the meeting.
Quincy Public Library is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
