Quincy Public Library is pleased to announce the addition of FlipsterTM magazines to its growing collection of digital resources. Your Quincy Public Library bar code is required to access the magazines. Click here to see them.
FlipsterTM is a next-generation digital magazine service that allows people to browse current and previous issues of the latest high-quality electronic versions of popular magazines, courtesy of their local library.
70 magazines, with titles appealing to men women, teens, and children were selected, including People, Consumer Reports, Field & Stream; Nickelodeon, and Good Housekeeping. There is no charge to access FlipsterTM, but a QPL library card is required for access. FlipsterTM digital magazines can be viewed on iPads, Kindles, and Android devices, as well as desktop and laptop computers.
FlipsterTM is available through the QPL website, quincylibrary.org. A web browser can be used to view magazines, or the Flipster app can be downloaded to read magazines offline. Viewing is easy with a reading carousel for browsing current and past issues; links within magazines to whisk readers to the content of interest; and a zoom option to enlarge or reduce images and text.
Support for FlipsterTM is provided by the Friends of the Quincy Public Library, the Townships of the Quincy Area Public Library District, and the Mary Weems Barton Quincy Public Library Foundation.
“Quincy Public Library is responsive to patron requests to provide more popular digital material,” Nancy Dolan, Executive Director, explained. “Flipster, as well as QPL’s other digital offerings, makes it convenient for patrons to access the informational and recreational material they want, when they want it, wherever they are. Strong support from our Friends, Foundation and the TQ District makes it possible for QPL to offer these services freely to the entire community.”
