Quincy Public Library’s Board of Directors has appointed Ann Behrens to fill the position of interim director.
Behrens will begin her duties August 1, on a flexible schedule, in order to be able to work with the varied schedules of staff members, and to meet patrons who use the facility at different times of day. She will replace Nancy Dolan, who retires as library director on August 3, after 37 years of service to QPL.
“We’re looking forward to working with Ann,” stated QPL Board Member Judy Crocker. “We feel fortunate to have found her to manage the day-to-day operations of the library until we can identify a permanent director.”
Behrens has expertise in leadership and personnel management. She comes to QPL with a wealth of experience, most recently as Quincy University’s Vice-President of Academic Affairs, and previously as a principal and teacher for Quincy Public Schools.
Behrens holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri, a Master’s Degree from Western Illinois University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Olaf College. She is a Quincy native.
“We anticipate working with Ann for a minimum of two to three months, or until we can hire a new permanent director,” explained Judy Crocker. “The QPL Board is just getting started on a nationwide search for a new permanent director.”
